How does the Amicos Online work ?
The AMICOS On-Line works by using the latest technology available within the client/server world. At your end you simply need a web browser capable of running Microsoft's ActiveX component and a connection to the internet.
What do I need to use this site ?
The spec of your machine does not really matter as long as it can run Microsoft's Internet Explorer version 4 or higher. You also need an internet connection. But if you are reading this then you probably already have one!
Why does it take so long to connect the first time ?
When you first connect to an application, our server will send your browser an ActiveX cab file which will automatically install itself and you will not have to re-start your browser. The cab file is about 300k so depending on your connection and depending on how busy the server is download times may vary. 2 minutes should normally complete the download. When it starts to download the cab file it will prompt you to trust the content, click on YES and it should carry on downloading with no further pauses. This only has to be done once per browser. Once installed, you will not have to download the cab again and connection should be within seconds instead of minutes.
Why do I get a Script error when trying to connect ?
If you get a script error when trying to connect this is usually down to two things:
1.) Your browser security is in force and our site is not a trusted site on your list
or your browser security is stopping the ActiveX from running.
2.) Your Firewall or Proxy has blocked port 3389 from being used.

How do I setup a trusted zone in my browser for this site ?
In Internet Explorer you can setup different trusted zones or add individual sites.
For IE4 just click on View then click on Internet Options and click on the security tab. Here you click on the Zone pull down box and choose trusted sites, now just click the Add Sites button and enter http://www.amicos.com to the list.
If you go tick the Custom Level button, you can enable ActiveX rules plus a lot more to suit your needs.
For IE5 just click on Tools, Internet Options and click on the security tab.
Click trusted sites and add http://www.amicos.com to the list.
Please make that Require Server Verification https is NOT ticked here before clicking ADD.
If you go into the Custom Level button then you can enable ActriveX rules plus a lot more.
How do I open the Firewall or Proxy ports ?
This is the most common problem people get when trying to connect to our servers and this is usually because they are behind a firewall or proxy server that does not have port 3389 open.
The Terminal Server web client uses the RDP protocol which uses port 3389 to communicate with the server and establish a session and hence, if port 3389 has not been allowed by your firewall/proxy, it is not going to work.
As there are many types of firewall software, we suggest you ask your system administrator to open port 3389 for you.
How do I switch between Full Screen and Frame
The Applications gets launched automatically in Normal Mode. If you wish to toggle to Full Screen Mode then use ALT+CTRL+PAUSE keys on your keyboard.
